We just acquired these beautiful natural Alexandrite jewels from ABC Gems, our supplier who specializes in fine natural Alexandrites. A client brought these three stones to our shop looking to sell them. She had purchased the stones while traveling and was under the impression the two 30 ct. greenish blue ones were aquamarines and the peachy pink stone was morganite. At Mardon, as gemologists, we always buy gems very carefully and only when we […]

This striking ring is a standout in our latest line-up of fine vintage engagement rings. The ring is pure Roaring 20’s, combining design elements of the delicate Edwardian style along with geometry of the Art Deco look. The low setting gives a nice big look with comfort and wearability.

Garden fresh, this one-of-a-kind pendant is set with gorgeous Colombian emeralds. Based on my vintage design, the pendant was brought to fruition by our master CAD designer Jenny Sweaney and skillfully set and finished by Scott Reeves. We think its warm peach gold is a perfect accent for the soft green of the emeralds.

Rainbow gem suites are quite popular– we see them assembled from all the colors of sapphire or with various colored gems that will make a full spectrum of color, but rarely featuring garnet. Our unique custom bracelet of rainbow garnets was made to order for a very happy client as her 40th anniversary gift.

The Emerald is truly coming into its own as this year’s spring season bursts forth. On the rise for several seasons, emerald green is fashion’s Color of the Year for 2013. Pantone traces the color’s current popularity back to Angelina Jolie, who wore striking emerald earrings and a gorgeous emerald ring to the 2009 Oscars. Besides Angelina, today’s […]

We’ve always loved the ultra rare variety of fancy sapphire known as the Padparadscha. Early in my career, working in the gem indentification labs of GIA, I had the opportunity to see a few good examples of the natural Padparadscha Sapphire and to learn the subtle distinctions that make this gem so desirable. Our informational blogs about […]
