What the AGS means to you

Diamonds, gemstones and fine jewelry cannot be judged by appearance alone. Subtle differences in quality can greatly affect value and price. That is why the experience, ethics and credentials of your jeweler are so important. At Mardon, we are proud to be members of the American Gem Society (AGS), a select group of fine jewelers in North America dedicated to consumer protection.

shipley Since its founding in 1934 by Robert M. Shipley, (Father of GIA, the Gemological Institute of America), the American Gem Society has upheld the highest ethical business standards.

Membership is only available to jewelers who carry out a specific business philosophy of consumer protection through education, professionalism and ethical practices. As members of the AGS, we practice truth in advertising and truth in pricing.

Our AGS Certified Gemologist is tested annually by the American Gem Society and must be re-certified in order to maintain membership status. Remember also, our AGS store is monitored to make sure that we practice the high standards of ethics required for membership.

AGS membership means that our staff stays informed of current changes and new information in the jewelry industry. We understand jewelry and manufacturing, we study gemstones and diamonds, and can explain the many subtle factors that determine the value of a piece of jewelry. We want you to make an informed buying decision.

Our trained professionals are well qualified to assist you with your important jewelry purchases. We look forward to sharing our expertise with you.
