What’s New is Old–Recent Arrivals to our Vintage Jewelry Department
April 5th, 2013 by James L. Sweaney, CGA, FGA. GGWe’re just back from the Los Angelese Antiques Jewelry Show where we acquired these wonderful vintage and antique items. Antiques are at least 100 years old, while vintage refers to pieces less old, but usually of period style, such as Art Deco or Retro.
A superb vintage Art Deco bracelet, I-22415 features an attractive design innovation over the classic line bracelet style– six larger diamonds set into octagonal stations along the bracelet attract the eye and add interest. With 3 1/2 cts of dazzling high quality Old European cut diamonds, this rare platinum bracelet is a real find. All original and ready to wear, it’s in wonderful condition.
This striking halo style ring of platinum and 14K gold is turn-of-the-century, set with a bright golden 1.16 ct Old European center diamond surrounded with 5/8 ct of rose and antique cut diamonds. An unusual antique engagement ring for someone who wants a big look with lots of sparkle.
Different because we usually see filigree rings in white metal, this delicate engagement ring is early 2oth century, maybe even antique, set with a nice quality 3/4 ct. Old European cut diamond. Yellow gold is making a big comeback.
Charming with a one carat blue sapphire center, this vintage 50’s white gold engagement ring
